NVIDIA BlueField-3 DPU is a third-generation data-center infrastructure-on-a-chip, engineered to offload, accelerate, and secure critical workloads across cloud, enterprise, HPC, and edge environments. Delivering up to 400Gb/s Ethernet or NDR InfiniBand connectivity, it shifts networking, storage, security, and management tasks away from server CPUs into dedicated acceleration hardware, significantly improving performance and reducing data-center TCO.
Powered by up to 16 Armv8.2+ A78 cores, programmable datapath accelerators, and advanced hardware security engines, BlueField-3 enables fully software-defined, multi-tenant, zero-trust data-center architectures. The NVIDIA BlueField-3 DPU is purpose-built to transform cloud networking by offloading complex network virtualization tasks directly into hardware. It accelerates SDN overlays, including VXLAN, GENEVE, and NVGRE, delivering wire-speed encapsulation and decapsulation without burdening the host server. Its ASAP² (Accelerated Switch and Packet Processing) engine provides line-rate packet processing, enabling high-performance virtual routers, NAT, load balancers, and deep packet operations. This allows hyperscale cloud providers to run multi-tenant environments with significantly lower latency and improved scalability. BlueField-3 offloads encryption, deep packet inspection, RegEx-based pattern matching, stateful firewall tracking, intrusion detection (IDS), intrusion prevention (IPS), and micro-segmentation entirely to hardware.
